Falk Lehmann, meglio conosciuto come AKUT, è nato nel 1977 a Schmalkalden, Turingia (D). All’inizio degli anni Novanta, fu uno dei primi ad abbellire la sua città con lavori figurativi e con uno stile fotorealistico, a quel tempo ancora atipici nella scena dei graffiti. Come artista ispirato dalla Bauhaus di Weimar nel campo della grafica e della comunicazione visuale, il suo lavoro include anche serie di foto con temi rivolti al sociale, attraverso cui documenta la vita durante i suoi numerosi viaggi in giro per il mondo. All’inizio del 2000 viene conosciuto in tutto il mondo come co-founder del leggendario collettivo di graffitari Ma’Claim.

Ha introdotto nuovi standard nella scena, come l’uso di strumenti elettronici come parte integrante della fase di creazione, e la commistione di elementi grafici e fotorealismo. Dal 2004 ha preso parte del duo artistico HERAKUT, insieme a Jasmin Siddiqui (aka HERA), ottenendo il successo internazionale. Insieme ad organizzazioni umanitarie gli HERAKUT lavorarono ad un programma artistico per ragazzi e bambini svantaggiati in tutto il mondo.

Il suo lavoro solista si è concentrato principalmente nella rappresentazione di singoli individui e ha continuato a occuparsi di questioni socialmente rilavanti, sempre alla ricerca di interazione con tecniche, materiali, discipline e strumenti differenti. Nel 2020 ha realizzato un corto con la partecipazione di 37 artisti in isolamento durante la pandemia. Negli ultimi anni sta lavorando principalmente in studio alla realizzazione di mostre collettive (Londra, Parigi e Los Angeles) e individuali (Heidelberg, Germania).

Ultimamente ha iniziato la stagione murale 2022 in Germania (Teufelsberg, Berlino) e non vede l’ora di dipingere di nuovo murales su larga scala in tutta Europa.

Falk Lehmann better known as AKUT was born in 1977 in Schmalkalden, Thuringia. In the early 90s he was one of the first to embellish his city – at that time still untypical in thegraffiti scene – with figural works in a photorealistic style. As an artist trained by the Bauhaus University in Weimar in the fields of visual communication and graphic design, his work also includes impressive photo series that address numerous social issues. AKUT documents life on his numerous trips around the world. In the early 2000s, he became known around the world as a co-founder of the legendary graffiti collective Ma’Claim.

The use of electronic aids as an integral part of the design phase and the mixture of graphic elements with photorealism within the work set new standards in the scene. As part of the street art duo HERAKUT, he was also internationally successful with artist colleague Jasmin Siddiqui aka HERA from 2004. Together with humanitarian aid organizations, they worked on art programs for children and disadvantaged youth around the world. In his solo work, AKUT mainly focuses on the modeling of individuals and continues to deal with socially relevant issues. He is constantly researching the interaction of different techniques, materials, tools and disciplines. In 2020, AKUT created a short film that expressed the solidarity of 37 artists in isolation during the Corona crisis. In the last two years AKUT worked mainly in the studio on developing group exhibitions (London, Paris and Los Angeles), and solo exhibition (Heidelberg, Germany).

Lately AKUT started the mural season 2022 at Teufelsberg in Berlin Germany, and he’s looking forward to finally paint large scale murals all over Europe again.
