DAKU è un anonimo artista indiano il cui pseudonimo significa “bandito” e che lavora come street artist dal 2010. Daku ha iniziato a rompere l’inquinamento visivo creato dalle insegne luminose della pubblicità, con i suoi graffiti.

I suoi lavori indagano la complessità della nostra esistenza in una società altamente consumistica e desensibilizzata in cui tutto è effimero. Attraverso i suoi lavori Daku rappresenta la superficialità della vita contemporanea, il tempo, il mercato dell’arte e la società in generale. Nonostante la complessità dei temi trattati, sfida se stesso e il pubblico.

L’artista riesce a colpire lo spettatore con commenti semplici e incisivi, sotto forma di interventi artistici. Poetico e lirico, o vandalico e invadente, il lavoro di Daku è sempre sorprendente e in divenire, come le sue installazioni con le ombre, dalla serie “Theory of Time”. Le sue opere sono state presentate in importanti sedi come il Centre Pompidou, la Biennale di Venezia, il Triennale Design Museum, la Sikka Art Fair e l’India Art Fair.

DAKU is an anonymous Indian artist whose pseudonym means “bandit” and has been working as a street artist since 2010. Daku started to break the visual pollution created by advertising at night – with his graffiti.

His works investigate the complexities of our existence in a highly consumerist, desensitised society where everything is ephemeral. Through his works, Daku talks about the temporary nature of our contemporary living, time, the art market and society at large. Despite the complex topics, he challenges himself and the audience. The artist manages to affect his spectator with simple and incisive commentaries in the form of public art interventions.

Poetic and lyrical sometimes, Vandal and in-your-face other times, Daku’s work is always surprising and ever-changing – as his signature shadows’ installation from the series the “Theory of Time”. His works have been showcased at venues such as the Centre Pompidou, Venice Biennale, Triennale Design Museum, Sikka Art Fair and India Art Fair amongst others.
